Job Description
BASIC FUNCTION:
Responsible for identifying and implementing high quality energy service solutions to customers in the energy, industrial, institutional and commercial marketplace. Development activities include data gathering, financial analysis, participation in the sales and closing process, preparing and implementing contract documents, developing project plans and schedules, negotiating with supplier and contractors and providing corrective actions as necessary to the project plan. Also responsible for developing and managing existing and prospective partnerships with engineering firms, contractors and energy service companies (ESCOs) to ensure product delivery meets organizational and customer objectives. Job functions include, but are not limited to:
1. Assess, evaluate, develop and deliver high quality energy service solutions to industrial, commercial and institutional customers seeking to employ more economical and efficient energy systems.
2. Identify, develop, and lead projects involving assorted risk exposures to SJI. Risk includes but are not limited to financial, construction, operating, legal and environmental. Risks are managed through implementation strategies, contract structures, financial review and scenario analysis.
3. Develop and manage partnerships with engineering firms and contractors in order to most effectively deliver complete and coordinated energy projects to ensure project milestones, financial obligations and customer expectations are met.
4. Provide customers with consultative engineering expertise and customized proposals to specific energy needs to further develop sales opportunities.
5. Develop, review and administer all project-related contracts and agreements.
6. Provide support to the sales staff by using energy models and high level pro formas that determine the optimum solutions for customers’ challenges.
7. Develop new strategies and services to ensure SJI’s continued growth in a dynamic energy market.
8. Ensure client satisfaction, contractor performance and contract fulfillment during delivery of services.
9. Coordinate presentations to public agencies and secure all appropriate permits.
10. Manage activities of in-house engineering staff as demand necessitates departmental expansion.
11. Prepare budgets and forecast related to the implementation of capital projects.
12. Performs duties inherent in all supervisors, professional and administrative positions. Consistent with all positions in this classification, additional projects, tasks and/or duties beyond what is outlined here may be assigned as required.
PREREQUISITES:
Ÿ Bachelors Degree in engineering, operations management or related technical field required.
Ÿ A minimum of five years experience in developing, engineering, or constructing energy system projects.
Ÿ Experience in project and construction management and energy consultation services.
Ÿ Proficient in problem solving, decision making and multitasking.
Ÿ Ability to drill down into project details
Ÿ Ability to understand logistics, have good organizational skills and be able to work in a constantly changing environment.
Ÿ Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills required.
Ÿ Ability to support project financial statements including pro forma income statements and cash flows.
Ÿ Experience in developing and implementing large complex projects including the technical, engineering, financial, commercial and legal aspects of the project.
